Re: [T3] Shipping a door

To ship: depends on condition.

If junky, wrap the hell out of it in bubble wrap or a blanket, get some
cardboard sheets and cut the box yourself, 2 or three plys deep. Then
strapping tape it. This, as far as I'm concerned should all be billable
labor and materials. You can get packing blankets pretty cheap.Or go to the
Salvation army and buy some cheap bedding.
Or if mint: Get some 1/4" - 1/2" lumbercore ply and build a crude box. Pad
the box sides with 1/2" styrene insulation (they sell this in 2' x 8'
sheets at home depot but its $$$) Then lay your wrapped door or fender in
and pad it like mad with newspaper. Call shipping supply places. They have
some incredible material out there.
Just remember to tape all moving parts in place. Maybe roll windows down if
windows are in doors and then remove crank handles. Or measure the thing
you're shipping and call UHaul and see if they have a box to fit (they just
might)

Just stay away from the styrofoam peanuts.
