Re: [T3] Shipping a door

Dana,

I doubt a pair of fenders weighs 100lbs...I mean, I was able to move the
package RJ sent me (though all the duct tape kept ripping off...can't
believe they let you send it like that :-) I'm not a big guy at all,
either...a some of the weight could be attributed to RJ's gift of a bottle
of Robitussin disguising itself as cinnamon schnapps ;-P

What about shipping the fenders in separate packages? A door definitely
doesn't weigh over 100 lbs...maybe 40? That should keep the package under
the 100 lb limit...

Also, being a total yinger that gets a kick out of any mention of
Pittsburgh, I just have to pipe up with a hearty PITTSBURGH ROCKS!

:-)

I tried Amtrack to get a couple of fenders from Bill & Steves in CA and
was told that if the Package was over 100 lbs it could only be shipped
to a HEAVY FREIGHT STATION. The heavy freight stations are usually only
the larger cities where there are sufficient frieght people to actually
get the freight off of the train. I live in Huntington WV and the
nearest stations to me were Cincy, Ronoake VA, Pittsburg and Washington
DC. While this would save me money in the long run I would have to make
one of Chris's 1000 mile trips to get my parts. BTW the same train that
would have had my parts on it would have went right through my home town
on it's way to Ronoake VA, but they wouldn't let me meet the train and
pick it up myself. Just my 2 cents.
