[All -- this is from "trainwreck <trainwreck@pdq.net>". S/he is having difficulties turning off html in postings; working on it. Please reply to list or to "trainwreck," not to me. -Greg] greetings, i just bought a 1973 squareback, i've had bugs in the past = so i thought i'd have no problem tuning it up myself, untill i opened = the decklid:-) it's been carburated with a pair of small solexes but = they left the distributor which i'm assuming is stock ,the engine # = T0845300, which the book says is from 1967, anyway, the distributor is = vacume advance and has a small black plug coming out of the bottom of = it. it's Bosch and i can't find a number except 22442222 on the black = plug. now really, my question is: where should i time it? the = book(idiot manual--i'll get a bently as soon as i can scrape the money = together) says to time it at the farthest left of my four marks, which = would be 5* atdc, but when i do this it will not even start! i put it = back where it was when i got it, around 20* btdc and tweaked it a little = by ear so it seems to be running o.k. but i would like to tune it to the = specs, sorry for the ramble, i love this car. =20 wreck diving=20 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
