Hope I'm doing this right - this is my first attempt at sending a message to be added to the bulletin board. Help! I am having trouble with my stock AM radio. One minute it's fine, the next it goes to static with ignition noise. If I turn it off, then back on, it usually clears itself. If not the first time, usually the 2nd or 3rd off-on cycle will clear it. A friend said it could be a bad distributor condenser that is not filtering the ignition noise, which is then picked up by the radio. This is probably not the cause since I have a brand new condenser installed. A bunch of other folks say it's a bad ground. I took a look at the radio last night, and I am a bit confused at the wiring. Two wires go to the speaker, one to a fuse (I guess power), and the other connects to the clock light bulb assy. This assembly has another wire which goes to a harness. I would guess this connects to the headlight switch, which in turn, provides power to the radio light. There is no ground wire on the radio, so I am figuring that the radio is actually grounded through the clock, which has a brown wire connected from it to the chassis under the dash. All of these connections seem sound, so does anyone have an idea what may be causing the ignition noise? Can it be the radio itself is dirty or has a problem? Second question is for help finding a supplier for floor mats for my 69 auto fastback. Would like to protect the carpet, but can not find floormats that are custom made to fit a T3 with auto. Can anyone help out with a distributor for these floor mats? Thanx!
