If Off/On sometimes helps, then the problem is somewhere in the radio or its associated circuitry. > A bunch of other folks say it's a bad ground. This brings dial lamp power into the radio, so your dial lamp should dim with the rest of the dash lights. Not all the sapphire radios had this feature. This assembly has another wire which goes to a harness. > I would guess this connects to the headlight switch, which in turn, provides > power to the radio light. And to all the dash lights, yes. That brown wire grounds the clock body, but the lamp wire is still not grounded (nor do you want it to be.) Your radio must have a ground to operate. Sometimes this comes down on the antenna shield, but this can become intermittent and is not the right way to do it. If your radio is mounted in one of the plastic under dash mounts, then you should add a ground wire from the stud on the back of the radio to a good ground point on the chassis. If the radio mounts via metal to the body then you should already have a ground. It is possible to have an internal problem in the radio, but you should make sure of the ground first. > Second question is for help finding a supplier for floor mats for my 69 auto > fastback. Sorry, you're about 25 years too late, unless someone here has some to sell.
