It depends on what you're using for a jack. If you have a substantial floor jack, you might want to jack on the lower end of the shock mount on the trailing arm. Either there or the outer end of the torsion tube will be fine. Just make sure you block all the wheels before going up with it, the last thing we need is a squashed TIII owner. I've had to be sharp with a couple of tire firms that wanted to slip their jacks under the engine. I did notice that the last J.C Whitney catalog had hardware packages(springs, etc.) for VW brakes, whether or not they still have TIII stuff, I don't know. I was going to order several kits when I got around to it. You need to get new clips/retainers for the emergency brake levers, these are only supposed to be used once and are the same as what the Bug fellows use. A good VW place should have them for about 25 cents @. Other than that, the springs and retainers can be reused if they're not in terrible condition, new is always nice, though. Needle-nose vicegrips are a godsend for this stuff, work as good or better than the specialty pliers. If the backplates are rusty, you might want to consider taking it off, wire-brushing it and giving it a coat of good enamel(could always oven-bake it if you don't mind the smell!). Should be enough time this weekend for the paint to dry and for you to get the rest of the parts back on. Good luck.
