There is ductwork inside, too.  If you just seal that exit, then 
there will be very little air going through the oil cooler at all.  
Obviously that would be a very bad thing.  If you seal that exit AND 
remove all the internal ducting then my guess is that both the oil 
cooler and cyl #3 will suffer from slightly reduced cooling.
