The last year of grey faces (71) has the electronic works. That year also has the late retaining springs on the housing, but if you want to put it in an early car it is fairly easy to swap the works into the early housing. I have yet to get the late works to run reliably. I really haven't figured out the problem yet. My latest theory is that 1 or more of the transistors go bad and that putting in a rather generic substitute might give them a new life. I have not tested this theory yet.
