There are 2 types of Type 3 clock; the earlier one (to around '71) goes click about once a minute as the spring is wound up again (they all have a grey face), and the other is a transistorised mechanism that uses a small pendulum to keep the time (normally black-face, but I have seen some replacement ones with a grey face). The first type (6V or 12V types) has contacts that touch briefly as the spring unwinds, and a tiny solenoid rewinds it (click!). It also has a fusable link in case the contacts stick, to stop it burning out. This may have blown, or the contacts may just be dirty. If the fuse-link has gone, a single strand of thin copper wire or 5-amp fuse wire should do the job, and guard against overload. Clean the contacts (a bit of very fine sandpaper is OK). Try it again. If it doesn't keep reasonable time, there's an adjustment under a sticker; it shows + and - so turn it a little as needed. The transistorised ones are often revived by removing the rear cover, spraying with WD40, shaking to and fro axially to persuade the pendulum to move, and connect to a 12V supply. Keep clear of the fine wires, and don't handle the pendulum or green/pink coils it moves above. There's not much to go wrong (but they are less reliable than the older style), but solder flux eats into the wires, and the pendulum sometimes wears away the fine wire coils. Good luck, Dave.
