Effective Jan. 1, 1998, cars 1973 and older are exempt from smog checks both the biannual ones and the ones previously needed upon registering it. This is the reason I decided to resurrect my '68. Furthermore, this will apply to all cars that become 25 years and older. WHich means that next year cars that are model year '74 and older will be exempt. The following year will allow '75 model cars to be exempt. And so on. This will continue until sometime in the year 200X. Not sure when it's scheduled to be eliminated or ammended. ANyhow, you are supposed to have all you smog stuff in there because they can "catch" you if you go smoking your way down the highway and check to see if it's all there. > ---------- > From: mfuhriman@fugro.com[SMTP:mfuhriman@fugro.com] > Sent: Thursday, October 22, 1998 12:52 PM > To: type3@vwtype3.org > Subject: RE: [T3] Broken Odometer and insurance gripes > > > > -----Original Message----- > > ...So he went through the typical "I really shouldnt do this for > you > > because it's technically illegal to drive without a working > odometer,..." > > What??
