Dunno what to tell you. Internal car temps in Phx hit 160¼ (ruining cd's, cassettes, rented movies and anything else you leave in the car when you run in to the grocery store - including dogs and at least once a summer some newcomer leaves their kid in the car) during the summer; couple that with bopping onto the hiway and shooting along at 65? The passenger compartment cools off to a more reasonable 110¼ or so once you're moving. I only have the one guy's testimony to go by, but he was recommended by my VWFLAPS. It's much hotter in the trunk where the gauges are, I can't say for sure. For a relatively low price he made my speedo work again; and I didn't have to diddle with the gears. -----Original Message----- From: Erkson, Toby [SMTP:toby.erkson@intel.com] Sent: Thursday, 22 October 1998 10:48 To: "'type3@vwtype3.org'" Subject: RE: [T3] Broken Odometer and insurance gripes The speedo in my baby is the stock unit and the only work done to it was replacing one of the odometer moving gears so I don't know what other make of speedo your repair-dude was talking about. My speedo has seen the plus side of 100mph on several occasions and +75mph for *hours* on end so "all the time" sounds... I hear ya on the insurance stuff. Legalized (wallet) rape. Bastards.
