The speedo in my baby is the stock unit and the only work done to it was replacing one of the odometer moving gears so I don't know what other make of speedo your repair-dude was talking about. My speedo has seen the plus side of 100mph on several occasions and +75mph for *hours* on end so "all the time" sounds... I hear ya on the insurance stuff. Legalized (wallet) rape. Bastards.
