Well, there might be a full moon, and there's no question but what
I'm slippin' a bit each day, so I went back and checked the microfilm-
only because Keith is usually right! The only ball joint change
occurred in 68. Earlier ones were smaller, but 68-73 are the same.

Tandem MCs are all 19mm bore, but VW changed the stroke proportions
at some point. These all retrofit however. I think most of the
simplex MCs were also 19mm, but some of the early ones may have been
larger. Does anyone know for sure?

It is interesting to note that MC bores and drum brake cylinder bores
are all actually inch dimensions (true dimensions are 3/4" = 19.05mm
and 7/8" = 22.2mm) but disk brake caliper bores are actually metric,
42mm in our case. The reasons seem to be historical and have held
true on all the makes of cars I have ever worked on.
