Alas, fellow listees, I'm afraid the report on Deathrich (the indomitable 71 Square, FI, manual), veteran of the infamous hill, and drives to all parts in the southwest isn't good. My VWGuru reports to me that the fuel pressure sensors (plural? I didn't know there'd be more than one?) went bad, creating my rich condition, and this has led to a scored piston. I didn't really think the two could be combined, just happy coincidence that they'd happen so close together. He hasn't actually put her on any machines yet, just a quick scan (he said it was really low on oil, and beings as I put a quart in when I got home on Friday, and she died Saturday night after about 35 miles, that's not so good); he'll know tomorrow when he gets her on a lift. I'm going to have him fix the fuel delivery, and buy new pistons and heads and slap them on some weekend soon (I'm *so* happy the holidays are already upon us! I didn't really have anything better to do with my money!). It'll give me a chance to put that new clutch-return spring in, anyway. Sigh.
