have you pushed the little button near the center tunnel? Its a tittle springy tab that keeps them from sliding out. You have to hold it down with a screwdriver or something while pulling up the adjust-o-lock thing while somehow moving the seat forward.... Its quite a fun time... Oh, and they come out forward, by the way.
