Hello all,
Just FYI, if you're not familiar with the fastback popout windows...
Yesterday I *finally* received a set of fastback popout windows I ordered
centuries ago from a junkyard in California...I had to go this route
because it was the only way I could obtain the complete window package
(including latches, screws, window seals with trim, etc.). For those that
have not see the fastback popouts before, they're very much different than
those for notches or squares. The fastback popouts have a full window
seal, just like you'd use for stationary windows...however, the main
difference is that only the leading edge (near the door pillar) of the
window seal, and a couple inches of seal on the top and bottom as you move
back from the door pillar, actually holds the window. A couple inches back
on the top and bottom theres a thick retainer (actually a section of the
seal about 1.5 inches long that is thicker, with a metal cover) to hold the
window into the seal. To keep the seal from sliding around, there also
appears to be screw on the top and bottom of the seal, right behind the
thick rubber retainer, that would slide through a hole in the metal lip
(the one on the car body, inside the window frame, that the window seal
wraps around to hold it to the car).
After the retainer, the window is basically free to separate from the seal
when you open it with the latch (which BTW, is large, heavy, and seal
locking, so there's no annoying screw-down knobs)...the funny thing is that
there's no hinge...the window itself actually bends when you open it! I've
removed the window from the seal for cleaning, and it seems that the seal
may have some sort of rigid inner support...I really doubt that the chrome
trim is the only thing helping the seal to retain it's shape.

I'm going to snap a few photos of the install process...as well as the
general construction of the seals,
latches, and windows. Let me know if anyone wants additional information
(though it may take a while as I'll be on vacation for 2 weeks).
