Both of my Notches had separate keys for door and ignition, but I was told it was because of replacement tumblers. When I got my '73, it didn't have door keys at all. I pulled the right (passenger) handle off and took it to a VW dealer. They said that it wasn't off a VW, to which I said you wanna bet? Took the guy outside to the Notch, he said that it weren't like any VW he'd ever seen. They had the blank, but didn't have the "code" to cut a key for it. I had to take the blank to a Porsche dealer, of all things, who were more then happy to cut me a key for $40. One more reason to say that Type III's are more related to Porsches than anyone knows. RMMW has blanks in their last catalog, but none of their profiles were the same as mine. David Walters '73 1600 L Notchback S. FL, USA
