Re: speaker placement

Charlie,

If I understand you correctly the platforms are placed horizontally?
So the speakers "face" straight up and do not have a closed soundbox?
Is the board sufficient to reproduce music in a way that it doesn't
sound like a cheap transistorradio?

I'm interested because the solution I've tried for my SB doesn't work to
my satisfaction: I also used plywood to make little soundboxes to put on
my parceltray. They are slightly bigger than the diameter of the speakers.
The speakers are directed slantly towards driver and passenger. I thought
this way I can get them out while camping and do not have to cut holes in
the door or rear sidepanels.
But the sound they produce is too thin. Probably because the soundboxes
are too small. I think they only work well with a (closed) soundbox
like a trunk or door. Other solutions should at least have enough cubical
space.
Any other thoughts?
