Hello All, In regards to the question of speaker placement, no real good answers for the rear in a squareback. But for the front, I went and bought a parcel tray. On the outside corners I made a platform out of thin plywood, painted it black, drilled holes and mounted with those thin "tie" things, you know the ones commonly used to tie electrical wires together? I then mounted small surface speakers on these platforms. The speakers are genuine VW out of the rear of a late bus, not correct time period, but hey, they're VW. One thing I realized as I was mounting the tray, for early T-3's you need to allow space above the driver's side speaker to allow room to pull the front hood release! My speakers are a tad bit tall, so the tray is a tad bit low. The plywood platform could be moved in also, but I like them way out in the corners, look pretty good acutally. I then mounted my stereo on a similar platform in the center of the tray under the stock location. This way, my factory radio stays installed. For originality at shows, as if my car would get any notice anyway, just a few snips with a cutter and the plastic ties are gone, speakers and stereo gone, back to 1967 originality. I connected all the wires with "quick disconnects" to make it easy to remove for thieves, I mean for shows. Just another thought. Charlie '67 Square
