I don't believe VW turned their back to the Type I...they just moved on to their new car lines just like every other manufacturer out there. We were just lucky that VW hit the perfect market mix and was able to produce the Type I as long as it did (well, still is if you include Mexico). It actually looks like VW has woken up to the fact that the old VW scene is a valid and *thriving* market -- why not capitalize on it? Personally, I think German autos kick-butt and I would be honored if my dealership asked me to have my classic VW next to the new model. Hey, my baby is the Jetta's older sister (well, I should say "more mature", very much like Raquel Welch, older but still damn sexy)! Hmmm, maybe when I get the five-speed installed I'll give 'em a ring. ;) Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com <-- Please use this address for email responses '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L '75 Porsche 914 1.8L, ORPCA member Portland, Oregon, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/8501/ ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: New Bug Author: Luis A.
