May be the first one but not the only one >It's a Neon squashed onto a Golf frame, with all the same features that make me never want >to buy a new car again. No, thanks! Did you say price??! ;) >The Arizona clubs have been getting a lot of attention from VW dealers >this year so we'll help them promote the NB. I don't think any of us are >laboring under the illusion that this is a new long-term relationship -- >we have to plan on those dealers disappearing from the old-car scene >again as soon as the campaign ends. They're doing well out of us, I >gather -- we hear that the sponsoring dealership at Phoenix Bug-O-Rama >sold 50 cars at the show, that's $25K in nonrefundable deposits in one >afternoon. Not bad! >Steven Ayres, Prescott AZ Sunday 29 Mar we, The Heart of Texas VW Club got invited to the unveiling of "it" (that is what I call the NB) we got our space and had lil show n shine there. There was only one "it"and it was sold already, the owner was suppose to pick it up around 5PM. The dealer was using this person/s car for display. We talking about kids jumping from the front seat to the back to the front, door being open and closed about a zillion times and to top it of it had 130 miles on it. I might get flame but, VW turn their back on the vintage air-cooled fans and now they want our support to promote their new plastic toy. I will like to go on and on but, I will like to share that "it" had an adhesive banner on top of the front windshield that read: "Less flower, more power" Go from there. A club member who has a 1.7 Porsche engine on his '67 Ghia had to be hold back because he want it to rip it off. He said "it" did not deserve that banner....his Ghia did. Luis
