Alison - It's the high beam switch. It activates a relay to turn them on/off. Having that relay instead of the more modern push/pull-the-lever style makes for REALLY fast high/low switches. Great for getting peoples attention. It is still my favorite high/low switch of all time. If the floor type foot switch could be made faster, it would go to the top of my list. Anyone know what it is??? I haven't had a battery in my car since I got it so I have no idea what its for. I'm not even sure if the turn signal arm is original or works, its sort of being held in place by electrical tape now. We recently took out all the wiring, so I can't test it. Also, is it going to be nearly impossible to get a new replacement?İ The one in there now is in pretty bad shape. İ Thanks. Alison 62 notch 58 & 73 ghias
