Hey, all, Got my AT 71 Square started the other day- just shifted into neutral, cranked a few times, and voila, it runs. Kinda. On the right side, anyhow. Started looking at the non-functioning left bank, and sure enough, the injector wires had pulled loose. It was getting dark, so I brought the injectors home with me, so that I could test 'em. One seems to work OK- it clicks, and flows carb cleaner through it when I pressurize it with a little test rig consisting of a power supply, a Subaru fuel pump, and a 10 ohm resistor to keep from frying the injector. The other one's stuck solid- coil contituity, but no click and no flow. So at least one new injector is in my future... It got me thinking, though. I've got some Bosch injectors from a Volvo 142, and they're the same except for a different (I'm guessing larger) nozzle. (VW's are marked 'C', Volvo's are marked '3') So could the "I need a bigger engine" crowd get away with bigger injectors? Bigger injectors and a computer from a car with a bigger engine? Volvo injectors and one of those very trick, completely programmable brains that cost $1200+? One of these days I'll pull the brain out of the square and compare it to the 142's. I can't imagine it would be interchangable, but maybe adaptable? If noone else knows, I'll do some looking into it... BTW, where is the computer squirreled away on the Square?
