Yes.
First, the distributor type does not matter -- mechanical or vacuum or a
combination unit. Second, the ignition system of our old cars is
separate from
the FI system so you can change one and not affect the other (within
reason,
let's not get too technical).
The FI trigger points are separate from the ignition points and they are
not
touched in and ignition upgrade.
Remember, Compufire and Pertronix are electronic points, not ignition
systems as
they are commonly mistakenly identified as (hmm, that sentence sounds
funny, but
you get the idea). Computfire does make an electronic ignition system
as well.
Electronic and computerized ignition systems basically replace and
improve the
stock coil.

These Ignition improvements sound great, be they Bug-pack, Crane,
Pertnix,
compu-fire ect, But can they be used on a FI car that requires the
vacuum
advance distributor and "trigger points"?
