Okee dokey, I'll give it a try.

Actually, now that you mention it, there's a vacuum boss that comes out of
the top of the case, and the FI triggers, the mount for the throttle return
spring and this boss/nipple all touch (rather snugly) when the timing is
retarded to the point the car won't ping on the highway.

	doesn't this mean you have a vacuum leak?  is it going
	vrooooom.....vroooom....vroooom.. with a period of about two or
three seconds?
	if it is, twiddle the 4 intake air distributor boots until you have
good seal.
	unless they're really old and shot like mine, in which case you'll
have to
	replace them.
