'71 Squareback. It had sat out on the Utah prairie for 6 or 7 years without rusting, so I towed it home and spent about 2 years restoring it (All that means is that I am SLOW). I did my own body work and painting (which is why it oughta be repainted). Put in a custom velour interior (maroon with gray inserts) and standard engine w/dual carbs. The Square is now just basic transportation. I'm too tired and lazy to build a show car. Alas, my '71 van, "Hitler's Revenge", has been sidelined for many months now, having been ravaged by an under-the-dash wiring conflagration. I am going to take out the 2110cc engine and put it in a '71 high top camper van....someday! Also have a '69 Fastback w/automatic tranny to restore...yes, someday!... for my wife's use. And, Toby, the "VW graveyard" that you saw is almost gone! Had 5 parts cars (by now totally partless), towed away this week. Phil Dillard * 71 Square (daily transportation) * 79 Fast (to be restored) * 71 high top camper van (to be restored) * 77 Chrysler (not as much fun to drive as my Square) * 91 Chevy pickup (when I can get it away from my wife) * four Fiat 600s, one of which is at the beginning stage of restoration * another Fiat 600 to arrive at Christmas time * bicycle with two flat tires ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
