Mid-engine car means it came from a 917, Boxster or 914. The first and second items are rather unlikely due to cost so I'm gonna assume it came from the 914 model. My advice: Goooooooood luck! Also, the gearing is going to be way off since the tranny was geared for a Type IV engine (but NOT in a VW T4). Primarily this will affect engine cooling for the T3 engine. Though you probably can get an adapter plate nose cone mounting is entirely different, you will have 5 reverse gears and one forward unless you flop the ring (I believe that'll work...). You will have to make your own shift linkage. This will depend upon the tranny model: Early models shifted from the nose cone while the later (and better) models shifted on the side (known as a side-shift tranny). If you want to use this in a VW expect some metal work and custom fabrication...good luck!
