I have a set of fairly rare 4 Lug wheels. But, alas, I would like to trade them for some interesting looking 5 lug wheels. They were made by American Racing in 1973 for about 6 months (thats what they told me). They are super light (magnesium?) and a 4 spoke patern. The spokes look like the spikes on a devils pitchfork. They also have an aluminum lip on them. They are 15x6 or 7 I don't know how to measure the width. They DO, however, fit under the fenders on a dropped (5")balljoint bug. They need to be cleaned, they are not clearcoated. The only inscription on them is American Racing in script on the back. They were featured in HOT VWs Cal Look Wheel Guide about 3-4 years ago. I've only seen 2 other pairs of these wheels, one set- the same size- on a 914, and the other- on a 55 custom oval that was done in the 70's (complete with brass undercarrage!)- but he had the 15x5" that kinda looked silly 'cause the middle stuck out too far... I had them on my old '69 bug and somebody at Maple Grove yelled at me to take them off and stick them in the attic to grow old. So I did, but I want some new shoes for the 58 now. I'd like to trade for a set of 5 lug Empis or even polished empi copys. I'm open to suggestions... I'll get some photos soon.
