Ok, so I've been reading Muir and looking at my carbs. First off, I have Weber ICT 34s. I understand these don't have a choke on them so I don't need to worry about it. Muir says the automatic choke tendfs to make the car run over-rich so this is one less cause of over-richness I have to worry about. So I think I found the IDLE SCREW: Its brass colored, and its attached to a lever with s vertical spring on it. This Mechanism is attached to the arm that comes off the throttle lever (in the center of the enginge) to the carb. This is the screw that regulates the amount of (air? fuel?) allowed into the carb at the throttle butterfly valve. Got it. I also found the IDLE AIR SCREW. Base of the carb, also brass, inserted into a spring. Now, the first thing Muir says to do for synching the carbs is to pull off the linkage arm to the right carb. He says this will be easy, because its end is spring-loaded to fit over balls on the "linkage lever". What the hell is the linkage lever? The throttle lever on the center of the engine, or something on the carburetor? Either way, no matter how I push or pull on the ends of this arm, it ain't coming off nothing. How and where do I get this off? Let me get something else straight. The accelerator pump: is it the squarey thing on the right of my right carb, way towards the front (Front is front)? On my right carb the fuel line attaches at the FRONT. On the left carb, it attaches at the REAR because the carb is mounted in reverse. This would put the accelerator pump at the left of this carb, I guess. Let me just get it straight that the accelerator pump is NOT the mechanism to which the idle screw is attached. How'm I doing so far? Let me know. Mike ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web! Visit http://www.vwtype3.org/list/
