Thanks to all that replied. I did some checking and he can do this because it affects all tenants across the board, not just me, and his insurance policy comes into play. After more checking with other tenants, I found out what really happend to set this whole thing off; a jack slipped out from under someones car and seriously injured the one working under the car. He is now trying to sue the lanlord for having inadequate pavement in the parking lot. He claims the pavement was soft and caused the jack to slip. I hate people who try to profit from their own stupidity. All the parts stores here, including Auto Zone, have signs prohibiting work in the parking lots and there are no do-it-yourself places anywhere in Minnesota as I have seen in the past on the East and West Coasts. Must be some funky insurance regulations. I guess I am SOL! :-( --- \/ John T.
