Mm..over here in Augusta, i drive my 69 westy (AC content!!:p) about 35
miles one way each day to work...~60-65 (it's all she can hold these days,
what witht he extra drag from her ailing tranny..:(, about 15 miles per
gallon..*sigh*

Being rather familar with these cars...(mom's orignal owner of a 80 diesel
pu/p, i won a 81 pu/p and a 79 2 dr, mom also has a 81 dr..all diesel..:)
I'd say that the 56 mpg figure is about right...for a 5 speed...more
like 45 witha  four speed..  As for making gas..Nah.

I'll betcha he's just picking up lots of condensation.....
