Wow!  You got one of the rare early VW T3 Car Phones.  Your so lucky.

Actually, these should be attached to a long double-spring contact switch located within the upholstery of the front drivers seat.  The other end runs to a control relay under the dash.  It was installed in late '72 to sense if there was a driver in the vehicle & if the seatbelts were on & if the key was in the ignition.  Most disconnect it.  Don't worry about it.

While installing my stereo the other day I ran across a springy cord, like
a phone cord, under each seat.  The ends looked like they belonged hooked
up to something.  I considered grubbing around looking for
I-don't-know-what to plug it into, but I thought it'd be easier to just ASK
what are these cords for?
