Hey all- I finally had the chance to figure out the source of that short I suffered a while ago in my '72 Square. I removed a heating duct under the back seat and... sure enough! there was a wire which had burned its insulation off almost entirely. Now I need to know what this wire goes to and if this device was the cause of the short. It is one of those little silver boxes under the back seat, of which there are three. There is the big papa box, which is all the way on the right (facing towards the rear), which is the voltage regulator. To the left of that is the little baby box, which is like a little 1" cube with "Bosch" stamped on the top. It is neither of those. The one with the shorted wire coming out of it is the medium-size mama box. It has a rounded top to it, and like the baby box, is mounted to the forward part of the seat frame. My questions are: -what is this, is it likely i need to replace it, where can i find them, and what should i know about wiring, splicing and all that? I've never done any car wiring before and am a bit intimidated. The Idiot book has a diagram out of a '61 6 volt T1, which helps me about as much as would a map to Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Rosie and I would greatly appreciate any and all input. thanks! Cooper Melton coop@virginia.edu Rosie, the Indomitable '72 Squareback Cooper N. Melton, Esq.
