Most any kind of grease will work nicely for preventing corrosion on
low voltage connectors. There is special high voltage grease that is
sometimes used in spark plug, dist. cap and HV coil connectors that
helps prevent arcing of the spark to ground.
None of these improve the quality of the connection over that of a
good clean connection, but they can prevent the degradation of the
contact that time and corrosion may cause. In general, however, the
connectors are designed to have what is known in the connector
industry as a "gas-tight connection." This means that the connection
is tight enough to exclude oxygen in a microscopic region large
enough to carry the necessary current. In practice this works fine
for low current connections, but is not enough for large currents
like the starter and battery terminals.
