Re: The stories you hear when you shop for a car

Well Phil, mine's a little happier than that one. I got an e-mail form a guy
in Erie, PA that wanted to sell his '66 bug (I know, it's only a T1) that was
in "fairly" good shape, save the paint and interior. For some reason, I drove
7 hrs with trailer in tow, with my wife to look at this car knowing that it
was in snow country and was $600. My heart sank as I pulled into the parking
lot. Seeing only but snow covered cars (>2' deep), I expected the worst. I
knocked off the snow while my wife sat in the truck, then sat down in the
bug. Looked nice interior wise and started right up. I crawled under the car
(into the snow) and guess what ? Not the slightest bit of rust, not even
surface rust ! Pans were perfectly straight, even the paint was moslty there.
I drove the car around and it drove like a new car. Engine had 130 #'s, new
braked and rebuilt tranny, new tires, and new battery (12v). WOW ! I gladly
payed the the guy $600 and trailered the car home. I painted the car and
rechromed the bumpers and was offered $6500 last week by my father-in-law !
Just thought I'd tell you a happy ending story.

Kevin
