Hi All,

The process I use to get the spring plate covers on is I think came from
Volksworld. You use 2 long bolts in oposite corners and gradually
tighten them down, once the cover is almost in place use 2 of the proper
bolts in the 2 remaining holes and tighten them down slightly. At this
point replace the 2 long bolts with the original ones and then tighten
all 4 bolts in turn.

As for pushing the sping plate up you can use a trolly jack, but this
can cause the whole of the car to rise (if there is no engine in the
car), in which case you can use a chain between the base if the trolley
jack and the upper shock mounting.

Another way is to use coil sping compressors.

I have used both of the above methods, and would like advise you to take
care with any method you try, as the springs are quite strong.
