Okay, we have learned in the last few posts that some people's heaters work very well, others don't work well at all. So, beyond the obvious: checking the components of the heater system (boxes, exchangers, tubes etc.) what is a cold type III owner suppose to do? My '71 Squareback was reciently re-built, including the heater components, and like other owners have said, I cannot get warm when driving aroung town. On the freeway, is a different story, can't keep my shoes from melting. I saw a picture in an Issue of VW Trends last year of some guy's microbus, in which he had installed a gas type heater. Does anyone know of any gas, or electric type of heaters, or other add-ons to keep my t3 warmer (legal, or at least available in the US)? Eric '71 SqBack P.S. About the melted shoe thing... Ever heard of some kind of flap that you could place over the rear outlets that could deflect the heat down, or in some other direction other then against the back of my passenger's feet? Maybe the problem is that the handle on the vent control on the driver's (left) side is busted, so I don't think as much heat as possible is coming out of the floor vent on my side, got any ideas on how to get in there and re-connect what might be busted?
