Re: Guess what I learned?

However, the T4 PORSCHE engines put out a little more, like 80hp for the
1.7L D-jet, 76hp for the 1.8 L-jet and 95hp for the 2.0L D-jet. Also, what
are the hp figures for a T4 engine designed for the 411, 412? Though I
don't know what the figures are, the Buses *may* have had different torque
curves than the 411, 412.

What are the differences between the 914 T4 engine and the VW T4 engine?
The motors are identical, except for the following items:
  1. Case. Stronger, better finish, oil filter in different spot.
  2. Flywheel. Cut for larger clutch.
  3. Crankshaft. Wider journals, hardened, balanced.
  4. Pistons. Higher compression, better quality.
  5. Heads. Different port layout, better flow. Better valves (sodium filled on
     2.0)
  6. Cam. Different profile.
  7. Distributor. Different timing curve. Vacuum retard mechanism added.
  8. Fuel Injection. Bigger injectors, subtle changes to controller.

I got bored so I pawed thru my literature and discovered that the T4
Bus motor of 1972 1700, is only 63HP and the 1800 is 65HP,
I dont remember who was keen on putting the T4 in a Square but it seems
a waste since our stock 1600's were 65HP! Now maybe the 2.0L, I dont have a
figure on it but I would like to know the weight too.

Something that makes you go Hmmmmmm...
