Re[2]: Typical Type III Squareback problems?

I've been wanting to do the same thing for some time now -- another project
that's gonna require more money than I have right now :( The T3 disc
brakes are of good size and I find them adequate with the power I have. My
discs have been cross drilled. Since I don't autocross I don't use them
hard enough to cause them to crack.

The 914 calipers are needed as well as a custom bracket for mounting. I
think I read that the 914 disc can bolt on the T3 in place of the drum
provided the T3 has composite drums. Huh, ya know, I have the two cars
side-by-side...if the weather is not as rainy this weekend I'll see if my
914 disc can bolt right on my T3.

Other:
For my tastes I don't think the T3 heater puts out enough heat. Others I've
talked to say theirs is fine. ???

My engine is NOT a T4 (everyone catch that?). It is a T3 engine that's been to
the steroid store.

Since I have never used a VW automatic I cannot say if it's good for driving or
a piece of garbage. I don't believe it to be garbage. I am a driver. I love
to drive. When I drive I want to be in control and an automatic does not give
me the full control that I require. If an automatic is what you really want
then don't listen to me, listen to yourself because you are the one who will be
driving it!

I just added the turbo bit just in case ;)

72/73 front brakes were the same as on type 4's?
What part of the 914 rear brakes do you need? Only the disks and calipers or
also the hubs?
