Exhaust removal wouldn't be too bad, as I have headers (installed with stainless steel hardware, liberally coated with anti-seize). I have all the tools to remove the fan & housing. I believe that I removed all of that w/ the engine in the car once... was doing a long block replacement & had only little bits of time here & there and no good place to work, so I pretty much stripped those bits while the engine was still installed. I *think* this part of the job would be doable (...but, naturally, easier w/ the engine removed!). I'm most concerned w/ getting in to work around the cylinders so that I can install the "intermediate lever for thermostat" (311 119 731A) and the rods. Any more thoughts? -Greg '71 squareback '63 Beetle
