Okay, I got it now. I think you just need the oil filler/breather
functions. I wonder if your case could be modified to include the holes for
the dipstick tube. I suppose so, but then again I get the feeling you don't
want to do a complete rebuild here, otherwise you would have started out
with the right case.
As I recall you have a 68 or earlier, so you don't really need the extra
rear support for a type I engine (after all, it's not used in the type I)
but if you are adding the extra fan housing, etc to the rear, then the load
has gone up.
The choice is obviously yours, but this sounds like something I might do in
a moment of weakness only to have it bother me until I corrected it. YMMV ;-)
