The 71 is the better car in everything except for the classic body style, IMO.
Many parts are the same, many are different. Almost none of the body parts
are the same. The fuel injection parts are somewhat different, but could be
interchanged if you exchanged the whole system. 68-9 engines had single
pressure relief valve engines, later are better. 68 was the last year for
the swing axle transmission.
I would suggest that the 68's would only be a good buy if you wanted to fix
one up--as a 68.

The offset is different. I have lots of OE type III wheels, sandblasted,
painted polyurethane OE colors (black or silver depending on year.)
