Okay, sorry, I wasn't paying enough attention. 3) is right; the Audi symbol
is the givaway. Audi and VW got together after our cars were made.
VW continued to use the 3 prefix after the demise of the Type IIIs as the
prefix of the Dasher/Passat which replaced the Type IIIs in 1974. The part
you have is probably a Dasher part, but I don't really know. This is a
common problem. Not every 3... part is a Type III part.
Here are the retractable seatbelt #s from a Type III.
Front outside: 111 857 705A/6A, left/right, they're different
Front inside: 111 857 755D
Rear outside: 311 857 709E
Rear inside: 111 857 739D
This probably means that the beetle used 3 out of 4 of the same parts. I
don't know why they are not all alike.
