This way, it expands a bit more uniformly and you stand less of a chance of damaging it with heat that is too concentrated in one spot. Another trick is to spray- glue a thin layer of plastic (like something from the dry cleaners) over the padding before putting on the vinyl cover. This helps quite a bit to reduce the friction that occurs between the inner surface of the vinyl and the foam padding. If you use the thin plastic, it doesn't crinkle at all; you'll never know it's there once you have the seat cover on. When I got my covers I couldn't believe that such a little piece of fabric was going to cover the whole seat, but once I got it on I couldn't believe how nice it looked! (I'm thinking of an analogy to swimwear, but it's probably not too politically correct!) Good luck! If it still doesn't fit after all of that I would return it. I've successfully returned stuff to Bill and Steve's that I wasn't happy with. Get Bill or Steve on the phone if the person you're talking to isn't any help (and get the phone person's name). People tend to be more helpful when they're not anonymous anymore.... Hey, mention that you're on the T3 list, and that we all compare what shop is the best to buy stuff from! ;) Doug H.
