If the sensor is a thermocouple sensor, the thickness has no 
affect--assuming that your gauge has a high input impedance--which is the 
case for all modern thermocouple gauges.  If this is something other than a 
thermocouple sensor, then I can't be sure until I understand what it is that 
we are talking about. 

The torque dependence is just a matter of changing thermal contact as a 
function of the applied pressure, which also changes with temp, so things 
can get quite complicated in a hurry.
