I suspect that available factory options depended on the market.  For the 
US, all the roof racks were dealer installed.  In fact, for the US market, 
the only available factory options that I can think of were:

Sunroof
White wall tires
Automatic transmission (some years)
Gasoline heater (some years)
Radial tires (some years)

All others were dealer installed.
