timing..

Hi!! I have a Pertronic ignition in my .009 distibuitor with a stock 1600DP. Today while adjusting 
the valves a question came to my mind. I advanced the timing from 7.5 
(what the book says for my year, model) to 10 degrees and valve clearance of .004 ( as requested on 
cover of fan housing by factory specs) . My Notch runs much better than having the timing at 7.5. 
My question is, by having a pertronics in my ignition, do i have to adjust anything else other 
that the timing...valve clearance perhaps?it runs good now and gas mileage is much better too.
