Your regulator stuck and needs to be replaced.
your VERY luckey you didn't have a fire, check allthe wiring to the generator
now to make sure it isn't burned through somewhere.
Your generator is TOAST now as what happened is that the battery tried to run it like a motor when the regulator stuck.
This is one of those little panic situations that we (and anyone who drives
our cars) should be aware of. If that lights on after the keys off IMMEDIATELY
restart the car and try shutting it off again after smacking the regulator.
If no go disconnect the battery as soon as the engines shut off. If this
happens just once replace the regulator so you wont need the phrase:
