The larger pads WILL heat up more slowly, and I hadn't thought of that, but they don't give any more friction because the piston diameter, and therefore the force on the pad, is the same. Since the total force is the same, the pressure is reduced (pressure = force/area) but friction is a function of just total force anyway. Still, I will have to agree that the larger pads must be a little more resistant to fade due to heating. Of course pad material also plays a major role in that also.
