Further to Rolands good work,
I actually own two of these extremely
rare vehicles now (the 2nd one bought very recently) and having just
come from a trip to Europe where I went to the Global? Type 3 meeting in
Amsterdam, I can also confirm they were made mainly in LHD form however
most if not all but a handful rusted away and got used as work vehicles
and as such very very few exist today. Another friend of mine owns one
too and his is all original with only 30,000 miles on the clock- very
good condition I must add. My project one which I have owned for about 6
or 7 years is the twin to his and had 66,000 miles approx on it when I
dissasembled it. It is undergoing a very thorough restoration using only
NOS parts or the very best aftermarket stuff available, like BRM wheels
(flat 4), EMPI parts etc etc. I wish I could get my hands on a digital
camera or scanner as I would put pictures up on the net no problem.
Until then, if anyone has any problems/questions pertaining to these
very rare type 3's, please drop me a line. The other panel van which I
just bought is for sale too....
Aaron.
Adelaide, South Australia.
(while at Amsterdam I saw 2 or 3 genuine panel van type 3's that had the
panels removed for glass!).
